You're probably not going to find a small dog that is great with kids. Our yorkies are ok with my 4 year old niece because for the most part they avoid her arse like the plague.
Yorkies are after all terriers, and they have the terrier attitude to go with it. If you know that going into it they are great dogs.
My mother in law also has one that loves kids. One of mine loves anyone that sits on the couch and picks him up.
The other just wants to play frisbee all damn day.
