He did not "beating up" his kid. Same treatment I received at his age. It was only once and I did not repeat the stupid thing I did. I think it was about lying.

my dad didnt use a switch, he used the big leather belt with our last name on the back of it.

Same here. Most of us who grew up in the 50's, 60's or 70's would have been.

My opinion, setting incident in question aside, if medical attention required then you have definitely crossed the line. Marks, not including facial, happen from being spanked/whipped.
