I know I'm going to catch shite for this... but I liked Donna Noble. Even more so in retrospect.

i didn't dislike Donna because she wasn't attractive and young, i disliked her because she was SO DAMN whiny.

Once again, I hated her hair last week.

On Flatline (SPOILERS):

Weird

The Addams family thing

The Missy ending

Mini-TARDIS was great

I love Capaldi's Doctor so much

Another good showing for Clara. Some people nee to hang their heads in shame for their comments about her last season

People are going to be pissed about the sonic...

TARDIS siege mode was cool (why did it cut the Doctor's hair though?)

An intelligent fix for the problem

Two episodes in a row with someone who doesn't seem to be what they appear (engineer last ep, grumpy man this ep)...

Really good monster

Top 4 for the season for me (Listen, Kill the Moon, Deep Breath, Flatline)

I agree with pretty much all of the above. What a great episode.

Spoilers

The Adams family scene was simply marvelous. The sonic part at the end I thought was him using it to manipulate the tardis force field as a weapon, not using the sonic itself as the weapon. So I didn't have a problem with it. Kind of like in Sherwood when people were upset that the sonic "blew up the target" when really it didn't. Oh and the use earlier by Clara to escape from the room was nice, because it actually was as a screwdriver.

I don't want to say it before a full season is in, but capaldi looks to be my favorite new doctor. He was born to be the doctor. I loved the solution to the main problem. There were just so many great aspects to this episode, which honestly I expected to be a filler episode.

Donna is my favorite new companion. She would be great with this doctor. Her ending was so heartbreaking, it would be nice to see her regain her memory and travel in time and space again.

Agreed on both counts.

Great episode - fantastic monsters, awesome CGI for a TV show, and really well written script. Capaldi nailed it as always, fast becoming one of my favorite Doctors, loved it.

I have no clue what's going on with Missy and I love every second of it.

Another great speech moment from the Doctor near the end there.

A couple more thoughts this morning (haven't rewatched this one yet):

I don't think they're ready to go there yet, but this would have been a great use of "everybody lives" at the end, if he had figured how to save those in the walls. The last couple of episodes indicate that he really does care, but feels he needs to focus on making the hard choices. We have been led to believe at times that he doesn't mind a few here and there dying if it helps him find the solution. One of the main themes being "am I a good man?", they won't resolve this before the season finale, at the earliest. That could potentially a great "everybody lives" moment if he somehow saves those sent to "heaven" this season by the doctor's action or inaction. It might lessen the earlier episodes but it would be a great moment.

Upon rewatch, I take some of the above back. The ending was actually better when I noticed more of Clara's arc. What is she becoming? She is lying both to Danny and to the doctor. And she was zero qualms about either. She was callous in this episode as the doctor and really enjoyed this role, weighing life and making sacrifices. Wasn't it just 2 episodes ago that she was furious about being in this position??? I'm not sure where her character is headed. Wherever it is, missy seems very approving. is missy manipulating her, or is she under more direct control?

Missy has me befuddled.

And, I thought it was a solid ep. I'll cry when Clara leaves.

I thought Clara was dull last year. I'm not sure if it was the writing or if she was just not a good match for Matt smith. Either way she has been excellent this series. A big question this series is "is the doctor a good man?" I believe the past couple of episodes basically answered that question in the affirmative. But now we are wondering "what is Clara becoming?" As callous as the doctor has been at times regarding innocents dying to save the group or solve the mystery, I don't remember him laughing them off like Clara did this past episode.

A. I normally try to bump the thread before the ep

B. The show's been airing later for the past few weeks because the BBC decided that it may be too scary

Weird, but very good ep

Clara's awesome

Great opening

Really, really stupid and predictable ending with the sister

Doctor was funny, especially him trying to explain everything to the kids at the end "very trippy sunsets"

Was probably aimed at children, and that's not a bad thing. Better at light-hearted than Sherwood

Kids weren't bad.

I like Danny.

And...

WHAT IN THE ABSOLUTE frick, MOFFAT?

Hmm, not sure what to think. I think it was such a different episode, basically with no villains, that I was off balance. What kept bothering me wa that they were in London and there were basically NO people anywhere. Really there were only a couple people outside of the main group. I kept thinking that everybody was abducted or they were in the future somehow. It was strange. I'll have to watch it again but I'm not entirely sure what the firefly things were. I couldn't understand much of their speech with the distortion on top of the accent. Some of the dialogue worked and I really like both Danny and Clara in this episode. I'll do a rewatch with my kids and hopefully like it better. But for now I'd put it as at or maybe just above time heist (my only real disappointment this season). The ending I agree was bad.

Really interested in next week judging by the preview.
