quote:VERY sad. I wish people would just enjoy how much he has progressed since the bowl game. You can see improvement every week, yet people want to bitch because he doesn't look like Joe Montana yet.
This. Its sad how bad LSU fans want Jennings to fail.
All he really needs is more reps to improve on his receiver progressions, and he needs to practice a little touch to his short passing game. Other than that, I am quite happy with what I have seen.

It is Very, Very simple. The mislabeled Chart that claimed Jennings was the highest rated QB is a Passer Rating Chart (RAT) not a QB rating (QBR).
Jennings threw a bunch of bombs against an FCS school but he only attempted 13 passes so his Passer Rating Week 2 should have been based on Wis game only. Once again a Passer Rating is not a QB rating.
The CFBstats company that puts out the Passer Rating Chart subscribes to the NCAA rule of 15 atts/per game. They wrote me and said they had faulty box score data sent to them which they entered in the Chart.
The QB Rating is a broader ESPN metric that includes not only Passes, but runs, defenses, opponents ranking and many other factors like home or away. It has a criteria of 20 plays per game not passes. This is because with Dual-Threat QBs they do a lot of running, not just Passing: Game Managing as Jennings says.
The top rated claim was wrong. And you know that Jennings was not the highest rated QB in the SEC or 5th in the nation. None of this matters now because he threw an INT and wrecked his inflated Passer Rating with or without Game 2 against the FCS munchkins and we are heading into the SEC.
The reason it mattered to me at all is because we only have 2 QB's and they run and they will get battered. We need them both and to both be game ready. They both have different strengths but one is not the best in the WEST and the other a dog, Harris per Miles was always the best talent, told SEC reporter he wins head-to-head comparison 10 out 10 times but lacks game experience. The media analysts are coming down hard on Jennings for zeroing in on Dural and not opening up the whole field because a single option will be covered in the SEC. Harris has not been given much game time in these non-conference tune-ups as was promised.
Here are the two charts QB Rating (top) and Passer Rating (bottom) and you will note the absence of QBs on the Passer rating who did not qualify. Jennings however got all his games on the Rating list.

Sumlin is building the perfect beast. Hill is a definite upgrade over Manziel. Briles and Sumlin have greatly upgraded their D. They are recruiting magnets. We are a little ahead of last year's recruiting class with Quinn being #12 in August and our highest 4 Star. It was Dec 16 before we got our 15/16 recruit and first 5 star Clifton Garrett. But we do not have the huge in state 5 star group we drew from last year. Their O and D are better every year and recruits are lining up, their classes have big leads. If we win out past Auburn Oct 4th, we could likely win the West.
Yep. A&M Troll.

It really is amazing you can type so many words without having any idea what you are talking about it.
The reason Jennings is listed on the second chart with three games is because the minimum qualifications do not mean he literally has to attempt 15 passes in each of the individual games. It means if you take the total attempts and divide them by the team's total games, it has to be at least 15 to qualify. Had he thrown 70 passes in the first game and 0 in the next two he would still be on the list.
The reason he only has two games on the cfb chart in the original post is because it only includes games against FBS teams, and SHSU is not an FBS team.
Yes, he was #1 in the SEC entering last week using the NCAA's pass efficiency ratings, which is different than some of the other links you've been basing this entire terrible thread on. Just get over it.

I wouldn't consider giving up almost 300 yds to Rice in the first half a great improvements
