The Brownback administration projected a $322 million deficit in the Kansas budget for the current fiscal year. Since Kansas started the year with reserves of $434 million, the state will run out of cash if it falls as short of the Brownback projection as it did last fiscal year.

The Kansas Supreme Court this year ordered the state to increase funding by $130 million to address the inequality of the education funding formula from one school district to the next.

There's a chunk of the problem. And the previous state government had enough cash on hand to buy maybe a pickup. So if Kansans want to go back to that, they are welcome to it. It's a miserable shithole of a state filled with horrible people anyway.
