Now it's very early in my college career. So who knows if this is normal with how college normally works, but I would think political views, religion, or subjects like this wouldn't or shouldn't be involved within certain classrooms environments. I'm already witnessing a few uncomfortable moments and one of those classes has been English1101. I'm taking English only to become a better writer and critical thinker. Sure didn't take it to listen to someones thoughts on certain political parties or how beliefs are seen. You can sightly feel the tension spread throughout the classroom when certain subjects are brought up by certain teachers. I like my English teacher by the way so this isn't some hate on a teacher because they're unlikeable situation. I can understand a teacher wanting to talk about subjects they're probably most familiar with, and political/religion are heavily debatable subjects too. Just seems there would be many other subjects to talk about instead. Throw in they're delivered in such one-sidelined views and the classroom has been somewhat tainted.
Now if this was a political class or something in that nature. It would be open season, but to inject ones views into class or assignments is out of place. Shoot, even in a political class one-sided views are probably frowned upon. Matter of fact, I'm taking American National Government(POS2041) this semester, so I'll find out soon enough. I took this class so I'll get a better understanding of how the USA Government works, why it works that way way it does, USA History, and other important things. Plus, POS2041 falls into my required degree needs. I want to never again vote while not being as informed as one should be. You know, I want to become a better USA citizen.....

I understand that college is chosen by a person and elementary/high school isn't, but this is a public college institution. Many different views go into paying(Taxes)for that college, so it would only be fair that many different views be taught or not taught......

It is. College professors are highly opinionated and think highly of themselves and rarely miss an opportunity to espouse their beliefs to the class. I had many from both sides of the political spectrum, and the good ones were the ones that facilitated spirited debate in their classrooms. It's one of the things that makes college great, IMO. I miss some of those heated political debates in some random english, or sociology, or economics class.

Don't take offense to it. Use it as a learning tool.

I majored in poli sci and with the exception of two professors all others were hard lefties. Our books and required readings, take home articles, etc. everything was from a lib-prog perspective.

I was one of the only right leaning females in most classes and had to work harder to find evidence to support my beliefs while lib-prog students got some sort of weird automatic acceptance of whatever lefty idea they repeated. I argued with my professors constantly.

I laughed right out loud when one professor stated that the world would be a much kinder, safer, and rational place if more women were in positions of authority. I told him I thought that was sexist and he told me I was simply too androcentric to accept that a world ran by women would actually be a better world. To him this was just a matter of fact.
Another professor (like many others I'm sure) insisted that communism was good and that Americans were too greedy and materialistic to appreciate it .
