High Brass vs. Low Brass (Spinoff from Dove Hunt Thread)

I noticed a lot of comments about high/low brass in the Dove Hunting thread. My dad was a FIRM believer in using high brass shells when birdhunting. What's the real difference? Is one better than the other? Why?

I use the cheapest target loads on the shelf because why spend any more for doves?

If you shoot high brass you have one less excuse for killing one bird to every ten shots.....

I use the absolute cheapest 2-3/4 #7.5 or #8 I can find
If that don't work then the problem is you, not the shell

i would use cheap target loads for doves because they're such a small/light bird and i would imagine that high brass would just mutilate the entire thing. just my two cents.
