You're right about the chances of a person being alive today over the millions of other avenues that could have been and winning the lottery. I see that argument as more of a dichotomous key where, though there are millions of roads to chose, you have to chose one. That one road brings you to chose out of other millions of roads. Rinse. Repeat. x1million.

However, I see it that you and I and everyone else are products of this improbable sequence of choices, but we are an end product of these choices. And we will make the same choices with our end results picking up and carrying on the sequence. Always having some end result.

To me, earth sustaining life is more a product of the most random, extreme, almost impossible probability of clusterfrick things having to occur perfectly to happen.

I guess in short I see it as one having order and the other having absolutely no order.
