Better than 2011

No

That whole secondary plays, and a few start, in the NFL. Tyrann Mathieu was a generational turnover artist continuing in the pros and Morris Claiborne shut down receivers better than anyone in the country that year. Eric Reid came into an elite NFL defense and started as a rookie and played like a veteran. Brandon Taylor and Ron Brooks were role players on that defense and play in the league.

2011 was fricking special.

ETA:
Tyrann Mathieu
Morris Claiborne
Eric Reid
Tharold Simon
Ron Brooks
Brandon Taylor

I agree. That was one of the best ever. But it certainly wasn't the best. I can think of five LSU secondaries that were that good. It was inferior to the one the year before when we had Patrick Peterson along with most of the guys from 2011 (albeit with a year less experience).

If you want to list people that made the 2011 secondary perform so well you should include Mike Brockers, Bennie Logan, Mingo, and Montgomery.

This year's secondary could very well be as good as 2011. Mills is in Eric Reid's class; Robison and White are probably both better than Claiborne (I know I'll get bashed for this, but I never saw top half of the first round in Claiborne); we just need to get the other safety playing at Taylor's level.

too bad these guys couldn't have helped out their brethren on offense on 1/9.
