He's implying converting to Christ or being killed.
Is it surprising that a self-professed Christian would think Christianity is the answer for them? I'm sure atheists would rather ISIS members stop believing in any sort of FSM than become die-hard Christians.
I'm sure if you gave Phil the choice, regardless what he said here, of them remaining Muslim or becoming atheists, he would go with atheist.
And he would choose atheism for them over fundamental Islam why????????? Because he believes that they are using their religious beliefs as justification for killing non-Muslims. So, again, he wants them to convert away from those religious beliefs or die.
It makes sense. That he wants them to become Christians is hardly remarkable. I'm sure he wants everyone in the world to become Christians (he would probably throw Catholics into the bucket that needs conversion). The difference in this case is that ISIS's particular religious beliefs are leading to beheadings and such of innocents.
He didn't say that atheists should convert or die, did he? So this idea y'all are perpetuating of him as some Holy Warrior out to kill everyone who doesn't become a Christian is not true. A specific people are doing specific things, and in order to make that stop, they must either be converted or cowed. In this particular case, they don't seem likely to be cowed by anything short of death.
Now, have I said that in enough ways?

This what I got from what he said.
It is the same as a secular figure head saying to ISIS stop killing or we will have to kill you.
