the SEC has not made many friends in the last decade or two. therefore there are those in the wings secretly (or not) hoping for cracks to develop.

i'm old enough to remember when the big 10 was pretty dominate. ohio state and Michigan fought it out for NC's a lot back in the day. I guess it's our turn. who knows how long before the big 10, notre dame and the pac 10 return to the top.

Big 10(14) returning to the top in my lifetime? Only if the population shift moves back north with top flight coaches. We all know the general population has been shifting south-west for decades. Nope, manufacturing ain't coming back to the rust belt.

Notre Dame - possibly, but they did luck into the BCS title game 2 years ago and showed that they weren't even the Number 2 team in the country going into the game and even more evident after the game.

Pac 12 - Well, is the epic drought in California ever going to end? Is it going to create a mass exodus of residents out of the state because they have no water to flush toilets, take 2 minute showers? They have the best chance of going on a nice run, but unlikely as long as the SEC keeps winning the arms race.
