Why are most leagues PPR?

It seems like an unimportant stat. If you catch passes but don't get any yards, you aren't valuable.
By the same PPR logic, the leagues should also be points per completion for the QB's, but I never hear about anyone doing that in a league.

more relevant players in the player pool .

People started PPR because QBs and RBs were dominating the leagues. PPR creates parity among the positons by giving WRs more value.
As it is, QBs dominate the top 10 fantasy scorers. 7 out the top 10 scorers were QBs last season. They dont need points per completions.
The 3 remaining top 10 players were RBs.
Do you know how many passes were caught were no or negative yards were gained? A 1 yd catch for a first down is valuable. You cannot determine different values for every little play in the game. In the broad scheme of things it's a good scoring method.

PPR is a product of a more pass happy league that has evolved. I do not think PPR is a terrible concept... A screen pass that gains 0 yards should not be rewarded. It is stupid.
Call me old school, but running backs put teams on there shoulders and win championships. (Other than defense) So they should be the biggest fantasy producers. QBs are up there now, but at least they only get points for the yards they gain.

we do .5 per reception and i think it strikes a good balance

You're right... It's just as valuable as a 1 yard run. However, you get 1.05 points for the catch and 0.1 points for the run.
Please explain how that is fair!

Bc RBs touch the ball 20+ times per game. They have ample opportunity to gain points throughout the course of a game
Why does QBs only get 1 point per 25 yards and not every 10? If they throw a 50 yard TD, they only get 8 points . A WR gets 11 for the same play. You're telling me a QB is more valuable than a WR? Why do QBs only get 4 pts for passing TDs in some leagues?
Please explain that to me
It's fantasy. The more you can balance out scoring, the better the league.

Yes QBs are way more important than any player on the field... Why do you think they make the most money?
RBs are more important to teams than WRs so they should get more point... The fact that you can gain a point without gaining a yard is just dumb.

Then maybe they should increase the value of a yard for a WR or decrease it for a RB. I just think number of receptions is meaningless.
Only correct answer IMO

Yet they are all drafted late in drafts except for 3 guys? How is that important?

You act like RBs don't benefit. Why are jamal Charles, Lesean McCoy, and forte regarded as 3 of the best RBs in the NFL?
Pierre Thomas's ability to catch the ball isn't valuable? Darren Sproles? Danny Woodhead? Joique Bell?
PPR benefits every position: RB, WR, and TE. QBs don't need help. 64% of the top 25 scorers were QBs

Because there is way more of a difference between top RBs and WRs than the tier 2s or 3s. QBs score pretty close unless you get the top ones. Your argument is terrible and makes no since... I'm done proving my point.
It comes down for preference at the end of the day.

Because of the yards and td's they produce, not the number of times they catch the ball

If you are talking nfl and not PPR fantasy, it's only tangibly valuable if they make yards after catching

I'm not sure what this has to do with qb's. Perhaps they should get 1 point for every 30 yards if you think they make too many points. But points for catching a ball on its own doesn't make sense to me.

More fun and I think it is more reliable week to week. Touchdown dependent leagues are more random. Is it fair for Tolbert to jog his fat self in for a 1 yard run and get 6 points?

You gotta catch the ball before you produce yards and TDs, yes? Don't you agree that's a pretty big key? Receptions is a historical stat that the NFL uses when classifying WRs.
You act like every nfl catch is some wide open play for the WR. They are going over the middle, catching balls in double coverage, CBs draped all over them. Gimme a break
It's easy to say, "oh, what if he catches a ball for zero yards?"
Look at any player owned on a fantasy roster and check their yards per reception. Most WRs at over 10 yards; that's a first down. They aren't catching 0 yard passes.

It has to do with making the scoring as equal as possible. You have to find a way to reward the other positions to attempt to keep pace with the QB

.5 per reception is the way to go

Why can't you just reduce the value of the quarterback's passing yards?
