The cult of the gun would have no restrictions on anyone walking around armed to the teeth if they could have their way.

Yup, this sort of incident is where one would expect a responsible gun lobby to come out against such foolishness.
I fully expect the NRA to issue a statement saying that if only we armed kids at a younger age this sort of thing would never have happened.
Because...they are the center of dumbassery on this subject.
