I've never watched BBT, but I know the gist of the show and basically know the characters (especially the Jim Parsons one). On my flight back to BR last week, they had some episodes of shows playing, and I watched them. Well, one of them was BBT, and I figured I had heard good things about it (also bad things, to be fair) so why not give it a shot. And it was pretty fricking horrible. I felt like it was not only "lowest common denominator" shite (which a lot are, admittedly), but also that it was pretty poorly acted. I really like the show, but yeah, all of the actors outside of Parsons are pretty bad, especially the guy who plays Howard (literally cannot act).

I think the Sheldon character is great and Parsons does him really well -- which is why he's been racking up Emmys for it for years -- but the rest of it is canned sitcom shtick.
