Given the cynicism engendered and encouraged in the national dialogue, I can understand a Black student feeling that way though, and consider how unfortunate that actually is.

It's a feeling not representative of Blacks in general, or of impoverished Blacks as a subset. But it is an attitude, formed of ignorance, that when expressed is applauded. We're actually incenting a group of young black Archie Bunkers.
