Back in the 80's there was all the hype around Gary James, but Dalton Hilliard emerged as the real star.

gary James wasn't nearly as big or fast as Fournette nor was he the #1 rated recruit in the country coming out of high school. Fournette has Pretty similar size/speed to Landon Collins

Incorrect. They were both excellent backs with different skills. Both were drafted in the second round of the 1986 NFL draft, and James actually went before Hilliard. The buzz back in 1982 was about James until preseason camp started. Word immediately got out that Hilliard was the one impressing everyone, but part of that was because Hilliard wasn't hyped the way James had been. Hilliard went on to set the SEC rushing yards record, but James was a very good back, as well. They were both stars.
