It is impossible to cover in 1 film - particularly as this is likely to shoot for about 120 minutes or so - even 180 minutes would be tough.
Would be better as (another) multiple part miniseries on HBO or Showtime. I know I can't stop them from f*cking it up, but I would strongly advise against trying to do The Stand as a single feature film.
Maybe it could be over 3 films (shoot them all at once) but I'm not sure the modern film audience would be interested in that.
Should be a cable miniseries the whole way (and I enjoyed the Sinise/Ringwald series).

Me too. They had some great actors in that one: Gary Sinise, Miguel Ferrer, Rob Lowe, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Jamey Sheridan, Laura San Giacomo, Molly Ringwald, Corin Nemec, Adam Storke, Ray Walston and Matt Frewer.
I think it will be hard to outdo Sinise as Stu. But I think MM can pull off Flagg really well.
