This. I have used this guy numerous times. Great guy. He will spend time with you and tell you what needs to be done and why. He will also tell you if it's a job he can't handle. At least talk to him.

He's top notch - he makes and installs coustom muzzle breaks; makes stocks from raw blanks of wood; and he was an Olympic marksman for Brazil in the 60's - so, he has been around guns his whole life. If he isn't comfortable touching the gun, he simply won't do the work.

I'm no expert. But, if the gun's value is paramount, then I wouldn't do a thing to it - keep it in its current condition and it'll be more valuable to a collector.
