I just think the word snob is used way too often in regards to food and drinking.
Kind of how so many want to label everyone and everything as being hipster if it doesn't fit a certain profile

I agree with that. And I think there is too much negative stigma attached to it.

Why is it a bad thing for someone to have food/drink as a passion/hobby and be snobby about it? Are golfers not snobby about someone coming out there in their WalMart clubs and hitting with no form?

.. is anyone with any hobby not a snob when someone who isn't part of "that world" comes in and does it wrong? Yes! Of course. It happens when you love something that much.

It just so happens that the act of putting food and drink into your body for nourishment is something every human does, so having it as a hobby makes you a snob in a bad way.
