Really whatever. Shells really don't mean a whole bunch if your head is down on the gun. I Have shot 2&3/4 #4s my whole life and never had a problem killing ducks. I will say Xperts pattern the worst out of any shell on the market. That's a fact. Maybe they fixed the problem but I know it was a huge issue for Winchester at one time.

Ducks- Hevimetal 3" #3's in 12ga and 20ga both
Doves- Remington Heavy Dove 7 or 7-1/2 whichever happens to be on sale at the time
