Is Seven Mary Three's "Rock Crown" one of the most underrated albums of the 90s?

I say: Yes.
Still love it 17 years later. It was recorded in New Orleans. I think it's definitely their best.

Mean Mr Mustard says he's bored with life in the district. He can't afford that French Quarter high.

"Honey of Generation" was/is a fantastic song. In retrospect, though, it kind of comes off as a Pearl Jam ripoff.

I never really understood the Pearl Jam comparison. I didn't really think their voices were too similar.

Back in the 90s everyone thought every band was ripping off Pearl Jam.

I only know Cumbersome. I loved the song in high school. Not so much any more. So damn cheesy.

Toadies Rubberneck seems to be the most underrated CD of the 90s for me with Incubus S.C.I.E.N.C.E coming in 2nd.
I had Rock Crown, I remember Cumbersome, Water's Edge and MY MY. I need to go back and give it another listen. I remember watching them play at the Varsity in 1997-1998ish.

Rock Crown is a much different album from American Standard, IMO. Great guitar playing on Rock Crown.

Lucky and Water's Edge are still 2 of my favorites today.
