When is the New Madrid expected to have its next big quake and what will happen when it does?
Who knows?
Like I said earlier, it all comes down to stress relief in rocks. Too much stress = Earthquake.
And relatively recently it had a big stress relief.
Same question posted here
It says there was 3 earthquakes including a 7.7 magnitude earthquake in 1811 and 1812. But after that it's had small ones. Small ones relieve stresses over the longterm.
