Can Brown's friend be arrested and prosecuted?

From the autopsy report, Brown was shot while facing the officer.
His friend claimed all the shots were in his back. This has now been shown to be a lie to the police in a potential murder investigation.
And not a small lie or one that could be construed as unintentional it would appear.

as i have been told at least 3 times on here today, the shooting likely took place in 4 seconds.
if it was that short of a window, then that type of mistake would seem normal.

For lying to media-->no
For lying to police-->yes, but they seldom charge the person.
Also, cop could sue for slander or defamation

Providing a false statement to police in a homicide investigation.
A major one.
A major one.

I've never heard of a witness being charged under these circumstances. Bad witnesses get put on the stand and discredited, not thrown in prison. This is a BIG reach.

Prof. Parcells said a wound on Brown’s right arm was “consistent with a witness statement” that Brown was first shot while facing away from Wilson, but he stressed that he and Dr. Baden could not determine conclusively the trajectories of the bullets that hit Brown—or which direction he was moving—when he was shot. The wounds “could be consistent with going forward or going backward,” Dr. Baden said.

I think knowingly telling a lie that acerbated an already bad situation could be grounds for inciting a riot?

Wasn't he an accomplice in the store robbery?

No, just a witness. Go back and watch the video.

There is a federal law specific against lying to a federal agent.
Intentionally giving a false statement can be charged with obstruction of justice at the state level.

When have the Black Panthers burned anything down? They don't have anything on the Tea Party, not to mention the KKK.

But usually the person lying is the target of the investigation (eg. Martha Stewart, Scooter Libby), not a witness.

Obstruction possibly. But why throw gas on a dumpster fire
Posted on 8/18/14 at 5:47 pm to trackfan
Not saying it happens a lot just That by law it can be.

Accountability. Start holding some people accountable for false statements intentionally made to mislead the police and incite violence, rioting and so forth.
Not to mention to try and get another person indicted for murder. Possibly and starting to appear likely falsely.
