He wasn't shot for his past. But his past, in the frame of argument for his actions in the public arena, do show a propensity for violent action.

It doesn't matter. The cop wasn't even aware of this.

If the officer faces trial in Federal Court,
this very well can be used by the defense to show Brown's state of mind.

It is what it is.
I know you don't like it.

No. Especially considering the officer wasn't even aware of his past.
Any defense attorney is going to use the robbery and any past violent behavior to paint a self defense case at trial and the judge is going to let him do it.
All they need is reasonable doubt.
The prosecution needs to prove the cop was not in jeopardy, and that he shot Brown for no good reason.
All I want to know is what happened. If a bad cop killed this man for no reason, I'd vote the death penalty. But they would have to prove to me that he did the shooting on purpose and so far they haven't come close.

how is it that libs like Spidey end up defending thugs?
Is it part of the lib disease "process thinking" that Limbaugh talks about?
Left brain versus right brain thing?
I don't understand why libs like you try to divide the country over none issues?
sure it's a tragedy a young man died but the kid was high, he robbed a store then attacked an officer..
but you want to step around that and talk about how the officer didn't know his past and he didn't deserve to die? what is that?
Spidey one last time,
2 x 2 = 4
2 + 2 = 4
In other words, if you had an afternoon like Brown had, you could end up dead.. none of this has anything to do with Police training or race...but everything to do with the criminal actions=certain consequences
Ask yourself Spidey:
If you smoked pot, robbed a store, roughed up an employee, moments later struck an officer in the face while he is his car, tried to take his weapon, what are the chances you might get shot?
if you charge at the officer after all of this, how many times do you think you get to live to see a day in court? what rights are you defending in this thread anyways?
I don't understand your line of thinking what's soever...
If you can't explain yourself better, I will have encourage the government to take away your voting rights... you're going to get us all killed

Not if he is dead and not if rhese dumb arse anarchist rioters can be appeased with the truth, personally I think they should throw them all in jail if they violate the curfew
This ua what happens when ignorant white liberals and pimp race hustlers tell people over and over they are victims
They arw only victims to a 75 percent out of wedlock birth rate. Ni fathers no guidance.

quote:It matters to me. A person who committed violent acts in the past is more likely to do so again. Which gives the police account more and more weight. Just like if the policeman had been involved in shootings in the past, it would be all over the news.
It doesn't matter. The cop wasn't even aware of this.
Do you actually believe he was shot with his hands up?

Pretty irresponsible to tweet that without first confirming.

I'm getting fuzzy on my rules of evidence, but I'm pretty sure past criminal behavior is not admissible at trial. You can't use the past to prove the present.
ETA: I'm wrong! As to a victim in an assault case character evidence is admissible....I don't know how that works with juvenile records, though.

quote:Sure, but did the police murder him? That has not been determined. The killing may have been justified by the circumstances. If Brown posed an imminent threat to the police officer performing his duties, then the police officer had a legal right to defend himself. A police officer killing someone while acting in his own defense is not murder. The issue that needs to be determined is whether the police officer's belief he was acting in self-defense was reasonable in the circumstances. If it was reasonable, then the killing was not murder.
Nothing that Brown did prior to the event gives the policeman the right to murder him. Everybody agrees with that, at least I hope they do.

Yeah right.

Brown ran, then turned and ran back towards the policeman (taunting, "you're not going to shoot") was then shot 6 times.
Let's add "taunting while black" to the list!
wow you stupidity knows no bounds

Guilty! (the victim's past is entirely irrelevant)
What about his future, you know he was about to start college. I know all college kids get a few strong arm robberies in before rush and registration.
