as others said 2 3/4" low power shells. If you do a lot of shooting your shoulder will thank you. You will need some sort of vest to hold your shells and most have a back pouch to store birds. Most of the time you will start out with a box of shells. Some use a belt with a pouch attached large enough for a box of shells.
An orange vest/hat is highly recommended. Be prepared with plenty of water. You should be doing a lot of walking. Lightweight boots and gun are helpful.
If you have a guide with dogs the dog will bring the bird to the guide who will keep them until you get back to the truck.
