Some of these folks have been with our company for 20 years and will have to either choose to go to Australia or on another project or not. Any way to sugarcoat this?

I'm a strong mechanical engineer!
But my rate would be high because you seem to fire a lot of people and I'd have to live in Cameron Parish.
Is this that natural gas liquefaction facility CB&I is working on? If so, I'mma need some points on the profit as well.

Strangely, it's never occurred to this a-hole, that if he's continually firing the people he's hiring, maybe he sucks arse at his job too...
Constantly getting rid of the bottom 10% of your workforce and then hiring new people is the best way to build a successful workforce in my experience. If you do it for 6-12 months you are gonna be left with only studs.

Like I said earlier, one of them made a half a million dollar mistake so that's an easy one. Nice guy but frick that.
I am with you but if you can get them to admit they suck it makes it a lot easier and they might blame themselves instead of the company.

I was kinda thinking the same... Also if the guy that cost you a ton of money has been working for the company 20 years, he's probably saved you tons of money in other areas... How long have you worked for this company?

It's much easier than that, bro. My CEO told me to show them to the gate. I work for a Huge OG&C company.

There are a lot of reasons that someones performance could decline after 20 years....A LOT!

Its easier to accomplish their firing but you still want them to feel ok about it and you don't want to have to beat yourself up over it after, ya know?
Plus if you can get a few of them to quit instead of having to fire them its just gonna make you look good to the CEO. There really is no reason not to use the advice I have offered, there are zero downsides.

Trust me, this idiot doesn't have the foresight to grasp a concept like that. You know how professional coaches are often retreads, fired, then hired by another team over & over? Apparently it works like that in the retail world with store managers. I can't even guess how many times he's been fired or quit before being fired. Just a dumb sonofabitch that loves power. I seriously doubt his IQ is much above 80.

Ok, well in that case he is an a-hole!

They do, but my a-hole wife doesn't let me date.

I guess I am in the wrong. I should be fired

Please don't take my anecdote to mean that. Just the fact you're struggling with this tells me you're a competent manager.

Sorry I was being a smartass. I am competent but the kill list came down today.
Kind of took me off guard. Not trying to be a twat. Thanks for your input.

Wish I could've gotten together with you, Maria and nurse cousin. Me and him worked for the same contractor that you used to judge me for.
