Was going to post similar questions today. We are at Old River and have seen dozens of traps most of which had catfish in them. I'm looking for tips as well.
Trap size? Color? Material? Bait necessary? Can the catfish back out of the trap? How long between checking? Is it ok to leave them out all week unchecked? Is this a seasonal thing or will they swim in anytime?

Sorry to say, but you missed the good catfish. Once the water warms up, those catfish get real oily. I can't even sell them.
