yes we will have a seperate 1 TB HDD and its for my 65 year old dad so he will use about 10% of that

If he won't use any space, I would say grab a 256gb since you can get them for under $100

Well, I know you aren't being literal, but 10% of 1TB is 100GB. Regardless, it's very easy to set things, by default, to be saved to the bigger drive. 128GB will be plenty.
