To the occasional fans who are predicting 8-4 or worse, is that the result of your sincere and objective assessment of LSU and how it stacks up against the competition? Or are you bloodthirsty Les Miles haters who are secretly hoping for a calamity

Good grief.

Its based on reality. The reality is we have two choices at QB: 1) a new young sophomore with little more than 1 unimpressive game under his belt and 2) a true freshman who has yet to run out of the tunnel for a college football game.

Next, we have an entire new batch of young, inexperienced receivers. They have essentially never played a full game together with each other or the QB that will be throwing to them. Our leading returning receiver is a sophomore who caught 7 passes last year.

Finally, we have an inexperienced and, so far at least, unremarkable DL. People love to talk about Hunter and his arms...the reality is that he had all of 3 sacks and 5 QB hurries last year in 13 games. Rasco is ballyhooed...he had 4 sacks and 8 hurries in 13 games. Plus, he is coming off shoulder surgery. Our DTs will be LaCouture, Thomas, Johnson, Bain, Gilmore, Herron, and Valentine. None of them have had more than one meaningful start in their careers. LaCouture played in all 13 games last year but was unremarkable to the eye and on the stat sheet...1 tackle for loss, 1 sack. Thomas has been here three years and done almost nothing. He looked unremarkable last year. Johnson has been here 4 years and done absolutely nothing; when he has played he has been easily forgettable. Bain, Gilmore, Herron, and Valentine are all unproven and yet to play a meaningful down. The DL is where games are won and lost; Alabama, Auburn, and most other teams we will have to play will be running big fast backs at us all day long.

Our LBs are average. Our S are average. Our CBs are young, exciting, and very good. Our OL will be good and our RBs are good which will help take some pressure off our young QB and WRs. Its not that I don't think we will be good, its just that I think we will be reloading. We will better a year from now. A reloading year for LSU is 8-4, maybe 9-3. That is not a testament to how bad we are but how good we are.

Carry on...12-0, Miles hater, rabble rabble rabble.
