From what i was told a long time ago he was planning on joining the team in a recruiting role. Wanted to be mostly at home with his family and watch his son play HS football but wants to be a part of LSU. Apparently him and Les talk at least once a week.
Our recruiting would be insane. Then in 5 years be banned from the NCAA

That Ole Miss team in 2008 was loaded with talent he brought in almost single handily.

Yep.

The problem with hiring Coach O is anyone he recruits while at LSU would have that established relationship when he gets hired somewhere else. His ability to recruit, while his biggest strength, also causes me the most fear.

that's why the "Big 5" want to make their own rules
Bear Bryant when he got the bama job:
First year, a .500 season – second year, a conference championship – third year, undefeated – fourth year, a national championship – and in the fifth year, we’ll be on probation, of course.

Because he was only there for three years. Can't say the same for his first stint at USC, can we?

Well, he was the recruiting coordinator. There were plenty of shady dealings going on there and at Ole Miss. Maybe he's not dirty any more (doubt it), but I don't feel like there's any reason to add him to our staff unless Les keeps him on an extremely short leash, which would render him useless anyway.
Bottom line - Do not want.

miles didn't seem to have a problem with him or any of his past actions post 2008...O would have been in BR had Kiffin not gotten the UT job. If we have a dline coach vacancy after this season I think he will be at the top of leslie's list.

Recruiting violations aren't going to be a thing anymore soon anyway. Cheating will be out in the open and the NCAA will not be able to do dick about it
I think you made this up.

Orgeron came to his decision after spending the past few days in Destin, Fla., with his family and weighing his options which included an offer in a smiliar role at LSU or staying in New Orleans.
The 47-year-old Louisiana native had been intrgued by the chance to coach at LSU, a school he grew up rooting for. However he was ultimately swayed by the chance to work with new UT coach Lane Kiffin and his father, legendary defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin who also has relocated to Knoxville. Orgeron is expected to make $650,000 making him one of the nation's highest paid assistants.

Fair enough. If Les trusts him to not frick everything up, I suppose I do too.
I guess we'll just have to see if it ever comes to fruition.

I believe if he was told that once chavis was ready to step down that O would get DC he would never leave. He has told my friend that coached his son that on more than once occasion

baggage outweighs benefits, we're not exactly struggling in recruiting right now
