I had the same thing a few years ago. Called 3 plumbers out $1,200.00 to $1,800.00. Just to run gas line that was 15'. Said bull did myself. Might of had $30.00 in black pipe elbows and pipe dope.

Yeah, I would diy. Black pipe or galvanized. Pipe dope on the threads and spray every connection with windex when done to check for bubbles.
It's pretty simple to do.
But i'm sure some plumber or rule-stickler will pop in here to tell you how it's not a simple job.
