My wife keeps $20 tucked in the back of her wallet, hidden. It's something she has done apparently since she was a teenager and her dad taught her to do that.
its a good practice to have $20 hidden in a few spots. I keep $20 in my wallet, in my car, on my bike.
It has come in useful over 20 times and if I lose $20, so what? But some places only take cash,or you need to pay a friend or you forget your wallet.

Why?
And the only emergency I'd need cash for is during a Hurricane and I've got 2-3 days to get to my bank which is 400 feet from my office.
No need to have a liability at my home that's practically unnecessary.
