According to the new laws that take effect today. Only applies to single axle trailers.
Wow, some common sense from the guberment.

4. Inspection Exemptions for Certain Trailers: New amendments to LA inspection sticker requirements exempt single axle two-wheeled trailers and boat trailers from state inspection requirements and the obligation to bear a valid safety inspection certificate/sticker. While exempted from the inspection process, the trailers must still possess the required safety equipment to operate on Louisiana roadways.

I thought this was only for boat trailers, but from reading this, it looks like small utility trailers don't need an inspection either. Is that correct?
Not like I've ever had one inspected anyway.

That's what I take from it. I have a small utility trailer that I never had inspected.

Not that I have a dog in the fight.... but is this wording accurate
"exempt single axle two-wheeled trailers and boat trailers"
and does this exempt any boat trailer or just single axle boat trailers?

Good question. I took it as only single axle, but you could take it as all boat trailers.

ACT No. 160
"B. Single axle two-wheel trailers are exempt from the inspection requirements of this Chapter."
No specific mention of boat trailers.

EDIT: Two separate bills. ACT 235, exempts boat trailers. Same statute (R.S. 32:1311)
"D. Boat trailers shall be exempt from the inspection requirements of this Chapter."

A while back there were reports that sheriff deputies were at boat launches writing tickets for trailers with no inspection stickers.

I witnessed it first hand and received a ticket for it in madisonville about 3 years ago
