I think this is 99.99% of the issue. Trout just aren't where people expected them to be, so it's natural to think something is wrong. Hell, just the opposite has happened with yft fishing this year. Boats are hitting double digits like crazy and catching bigger fish than any year since I've been fishing offshore, in the hottest part of the summer when it's "supposed to be dead." Thanks BP, you made a generation of retard tuna that like to be caught hatch.

The summer was always the hottest part of the year for commercially caught yellowfin. That's when they spawn in the gulf.
