my wife just had a blood test (spectrum maybe?) that we paid an extra $100 for because insurance doesn't cover it that told her 2 1/2 months into her pregnancy whether the baby had Downs, etc etc all kinds of issues and the GENDER.
its amazing what they can do with bloodwork these days.

I'm pretty sure that a routine test. It doesn't tell you for sure just gives you all kinds of odds like 1:400 downs, etc.

I think we could have done that as well, but passed. Insurance will cover the ultrasounds (which can detect some things), but not the bloodwork which can find much more.
