Are We Satisfied with the Football and Baseball Scheduling?

When is the last time we had a premium OOC matchup in either stadium that wasn't the post season.
I don't buy that people refuse to visit LSU. Major schools I imagine require a return visit, which only seems fair.
Instead you get stuck with Harvard and Princeton for Baseball.
New Mexico St., UL-Monroe and Sam Houston St. for football.
I think it's time there was some value returned for all these donations, surcharges and parking.
Next year you've been blessed with McNeese St. and Eastern Michigan. Premium matchups. I guess they fired whoever decided to schedule Virginia Tech back in 2007.
Basketball I actually have no complaints about. They have been playing in some decent tournaments the past couple years. Plus the tickets are cheap so I've always felt there was value there.

I'm happy that LSU is finally playing at the college classic at Minute Maid Park in Houston.

Baseball is always deserted until about the SEC schedule. You can lay down on the bleachers and take a nap. I guess LSU doesn't care.
Football is worse. I don't know why I even bother to show up to those.

If Maineri and Miles had a problem with it, things would change.
The baseball schedule actually looks really good next season.
As for football-Ideally I would prefer home-and-home deals, but all major college athletic departments are structuring their budget off of neutral site games. I never see Alabama fans bitch and moan, as they enjoy expanding their brand. USC, Texas, Tennessee, Bama, UGA, Oklahoma,UCLA, and so on all do the same thing as us.
If the rant got what it wanted and fired Alleva for Radakovich, he'd come in and do the same damn thing

We're expanding our brand 200 miles to the west?
they play Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss and Western Carolina at home. That's not near as bad as our lineup.

quote:yep and it's great. Nothing like sun, peanuts and a colored sprite those weekends when nobody is there. I've taken several naps out there in the bleachers. Hard to do when people bring their annoying kids to the sec games.

Baseball scheduling is fine by me, don't really care.
Football schedule is frustrating me. I understand why they scheduled these neutral site games but they are screwing us as fans.

This is a loaded question as everyone knows the Rant is never truly satisfied with anything.

I can't even believe your rationale is that their OOC is actually better. Marginal difference and that's a huge understatement. Actually yes, LSU also does a big academic promotion as the university relies heavily on bringing in kids from Texas. That's a more implicit plus to playing these games. Primarily, however, I mentioned earlier it's how athletic departments are structuring their budgets. It's not ideal for me either, but it's not like we are some outlier in the situation.

We played Washington back in 2012. That was a solid OOC game. Lots on here thought that would be a great game. Can't always predict exactly how good a team will be. They are in the Pac 12.
We played West Virginia and they were a solid team in 2010.
I guess you expect every OOC game to be a top 10 opponent?
LSU seems to play in one of the kickoff classics every year now. People need to get over it. That is the direction that college football is moving. Big teams play in big OOC games at neutral sites. LSU isn't the only school doing it.

Both our football and baseball RPI's are highly ranked each season. So, what's the problem?
We were a top eight seed in baseball and top ten for toughest schedule in football.
More bitching for the sake of bitching going on!

well good for you.
other AD's schedule home and home's with the thought that they will win their home game and have a shot at winning the game on the road.
LSU has garnered the rep of "not being worth it" when they could choose another high profile team with a less intimidating venue.
i personally think our rep is better than we actually are but whatever. it's like every AD has the VT 07 tape.
but seriously, when was the last time a non conference power like OU ohio st USC etc visited the swamp? it's not just us.

Personally I like a few cheap games. They are always at night and we can get tickets for $20 outside the stadium and I can afford to bring all our children and grandchildren. Besides the kids don't care, it is LSU in Tiger Stadium.

Oregon 2011
@ West Virginia 2011
Washington 2012
TCU 2013
Wisconsin 2014
seems like we have had about one good OOC matchup a year.

What people are going to "get over" is their habit of buying tickets to the games. Notice the AD is already sending blast emails offering discount tickets to every game except Alabama.
