Nola restaurant reviews(Cafe Amelie and El Gato Negro)

I don't post long detailed reviews but here's a quick recap.
Cafe Amelie- I've probably walked past this restaurant dozens of times and didn't know it existed. It's set back off the street with a quaint courtyard. We ate indoors(July heat) and it was a nice atmosphere. The crab cake app and salad were great. Wife had the tuna and I had the lamb meatloaf. The tuna was cooked in a sweet glaze sauce that made the dish. The lamb meatloaf was good, not great. Overall a great date place and the summer drink specials were a hit.
El Gato-Third time I've been there and I wasn't a huge fan. Good but not great food, fun atmosphere. I had the steak and pork taco and both were excellent(and cheap). The guac and queso were both top notch. For a cheap meal and laid back atmosphere, this place got a huge bump. I know nola mexican joints don't get alot of love on here, but we had a really good meal.
Nosh-I had a quick breakfast one morning. Went w/ the "cajun" omelet and it was basically pork and onions in an egg. Not bad, but not memorable either.
Ruby Slipper(Marigny)- We both ate off the "healthy" menu. Wife had the spinach omelette w/ egg whites and I had the Salmon w/ egg whites and grilled tomatoes. The spinach omelette was excellent and the salmon was fair. for "dessert" we had the pecan and banana pankcake. YUM.
I don't see how nola folks stay in shape and don't go broke. Too many great restaurants, too little time.

El Gato Negro is decent mexican food, I'm not really into the whole atmosphere there though. I've only been to the one in the Quarter - I think it tries to act too fancy. Which one were you at?
When it comes to Mexican you just can't beat Taqueria Guerrero. Recently upped their prices by about a buck but still the best in the city.
