You've never met my parents basset hound. That fat bastard sinks like a rock but tries to swim anyway

I have a dog and luckily he can swim (part lab). I love him, but I'm not willing to die for him. Hell I'm not willing to even go into debt for him if he had a condition or issue that would cost thousands of dollars to fix. In the end, he is just a dog.

Yeah, we are so far off on this matter that I don't think it would be constructive to keep discussing.

To each his own.

How does the owner not know if his own dog can swim?

not sure. I know the few times mine has fallen into our pool, he doesn't paddle for long

Every here would, in that context.

I was talking about traveling through Vietnam and came across a dog dish. Would you try it?

Drowned While Trying to Shoot A Dog

Just read an article on FB about a LA cop who drowned over the weekend trying to shoot a dog in a pond that had a "No Swimming" sign in it.

Yea. Wouldn't "sacrifice" myself for the dog but would take some risks if he was in trouble.

My dog is my dude. I would do some stupid shite to save his life. Also, I am a damn strong swimmer so I don't believe I would drown in a pond.

this. I don't think my dog would drown though because he is part lab and I've seen him swim around a pool for a good while. However, if he was struggling id do anything i could to get him.
