Crabs usually run in the early part of August. I'm just trying to find out if they have shown up yet on the beach before I make a trip.
Also heard that you can't crab on Elmer's Isle or Fourchon beach. Anyone else hear this?

theres a sign on Elmers saying no crabbing, I was out at the bridge the other night and the water was full of crabs. Some guy out there had a modified pool net about 20 feet long and was just scooping them out of the water.

Just back from the island. Plenty of crabs in the surf. Running best in the morning on an incoming tide. Caught plenty in the traps and on a line with chicken necks.

Me, my son and my neighbor and his son went Friday evening from 3:30 to 8:30 and Saturday from 6:30 to 9. We caugt well over 400 crabs, kept about 190 or so. Used turkey necks on ring nets. Knee deep in the coves. We caught best right at dark Friday.
