So, now, what would have been your remedy for people with pre-existing conditions who couldn't afford health care coverage? Just let them die?

No. Not that it matters anymore, but I supported some sort of plan that:
- Provided what used to be called "hospitalization" coverage. Likely mandated, probably subsidized
- had a robust HSA-type system that brought the consumer to the point of purchase, removing the 3rd party intermediary for common and/or routine services. Rollover provision and some eventual cash value would help discourage overutilization.
- had some sort of high-risk pool to accommodate chronic patients with PECs.

The first two items allow insurance companies to go back to their roots: indemnification (and shouldn't break the bank)

The third is just something I think we can and should do for American citizens (and it won't break the bank, either)

Not your typical Tea Party response, I know. But like I said: it doesn't matter anymore what I think. We have the crappy law Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and all the other sycophants shoved down America's throat.

It sucks. But single-payor is gonna be worse. (and it will break the bank.)
