And worth every penny. I think they can be found for 550.
Yes a heritage will go bang almost every time. It won't do it nearly as long, won't be as accurate doing it, won't look as good doing it, and won't handle abuse while doing it.
I haven't picked up a production 22 revolver that felt better built than the single six. Smith made some very fine ones back in the heyday as did Colt, but the single six is ontop the less than $1000 totem pole IMO. Smith's current .22 is the best double action but runs about $800 IIRC.
The single six is one of the few examples of an extremely well made wheelgun priced under $800
