Starvation has been around a long long time.

How are those countries that believe in Communism and Socialism doing economically? What new ideas have come out of the Obama think tank?

I agree with some of your points, but what system is better? I think groups like this need to focus more on how money works and/or what is an alternative to debt based infinite growth models. I disagree with you that "technology" will save us. Technology is really just another way to use energy. Once cheap energy goes away, the whole thing will collapse. I don't think it is decades away. I think it is years away.

Capitalism cannot "end". It can only be modified, manipulated or suppressed with continuous effort. It's like holding back a large powerful river with dams and levees. Yes, you can do it, and probably should manipulate and control it in a prudent manner, but you can't stop water from flowing down hill.

Socialism, classically defined, is a scourge and a self-defeating system.

Wait? They're using Venezuela as their success story?

Man, I'm pretty active with some conservation groups but this is one reason I'm sometimes embarrassed to say it. Some of my acquaintances are bat shite crazy and it's all a front for leftist politics for many.

That's why I hate environmentalism

I like the environment and we should take sensible measures to protect it, but environmentalism is just anti capitalism In a Trojan horse

Technology can incrementally improve our efficiency of those resources, but there is a finite amount of resources on the planet, and infinite growth is required.

honestly on our current trajectory, we are fricked. it will come to an end for quite a few of us unless we either come up with life saving technology or we radically restructure our society.

I think we will find better sources of fuel as fossil fuels run out. Solar, wind, nuclear etc will eventually become more efficient and safe

Currently we have enough coal, oil, and natural gas to last my entire lifetime so I won't be here to see it run out unless medicine improves so much that we can live much longer.

Capitalism isn't what consumes resources. Socialism, communism, etc all consume natural resources. Unless the entire world decides to give up everything and go back to living in huts and subsistence farming or being a nomad, then we will consume resources regardless of any countries economic structure.

Right. Socialist nations have been some of the worse offenders.

Most ardent environmentalists I know are fairly short sighted.

Obama and the left have now made it trendy to level the playing field and redistribute. Now , there is no sense in them hiding behind the facade. Most of them are just coming out as socialists to push the revolution. Obama was the perfect pawn of the uber rich Dems. There was a reason he was groomed for this.
