Shea Patterson and Kevin Toliver put on a show

Kevin Toliver has been in town since last Friday and has spent the past 3 days working out with JJ McCleskey in Madisonville. He was joined by Shea Patterson today and I'm glad I decided to go...often do.
They both took part in an extensive amount of footwork drills and all I can say is WOW. First with Toliver...have a lot of people saying that he is destined to play safety at the next level and my response is simple...you don't know what you're talking about.
He is a lot more explosive than people realize and has tremendous feet for a big corner. JJ and I have gone back and forth on the issue as to what position suits him best, but I think we're on the same page now. After a 3 hour workout, Toliver took a crack at breaking the facility record of a 54-inch standing box jump. He cleared 54 with ease then took a few cracks at 57-inches before finally sticking it. Just to put in context...the facility I used to work at trains a lot of NFL athletes and I've yet to see anyone surpass 58, which was Brandon Merriweather heading into the NFL Draft.
As for Shea...the kid is a tremendous prospect. His footwork is second to none and threw everything with velocity and precision. His coach-ability has never been questioned, but he proved today that he picks things up really quick and is a workout warrior.
And yes...Toliver has started recruiting Shea already.
