If it weren't for the invasion of Afghanistan heroin wouldn't be nearly as cheap, so we've got that going for us!

Also it was during WWI that bacteria was determined to be the reason why so many were dieing from infection and that lead to the discovery of antibiotics.

Not saying that war is good but it is not all bad.
