JMO, but I think one thing we might want to do to keep participation high is to change the way the league is setup a little bit. Maybe switch to two keepers from three and/or make our keepers optional and count as our 1st/2nd/3rd picks if we choose to keep them. Because as it stands we have a couple teams that have zero shot before the season even starts, and it's hard to keep interest high and have a balanced league when that is the case.
Also might want to consider having the draft order random rather than based on record as well. Having multiple people tanking from the middle of the season on is no fun for anyone, which happened a little bit last year.

One way to keep people interested is move the playoff teams from 4 to 6. This keeps more teams in the race for a spot. I don't like 4 one bit because half the teams are out in no time.
I don't think draft order should be randomized. The lower half of the league should get better picks to keep the league as balanced as possible.

I have no issues with going from 4-6 playoff teams in a 12 teamer.
That really doesn't address the major issue though, which is teams that wind up being screwed with keepers stay screwed with keepers for multiple seasons under the current setup. 3 keepers is alot for a 12 team league, and being forced to keep keepers when your team sucks makes for a horrible team.
Tduecen's team was screwed from the start last year, and still is this year. If he decides not to come back the league would have to start over anyway because under our current rules we wouldn't be able to find anyone to take a team that has zero chance of winning for a couple years.
My main issue with the reverse standings is you wind up with people deliberately tanking for a highly draft pick, which completely throws off the playoff race. Take Okie last year, he started sitting all his best players just past the midway point, losing every game on purpose (and I'm not trying to call out okie here, if the rules benefit him to do that there is no reason for him not to). That kind of stuff seriously throws off a playoff race though.

my keepers sucked, my picks sucked, it was by far the worst league I was in, so it got the least amount of attention. I will give up my 20 bucks again this year, I am not even sure who is still on my team right now.

Ray Rice completely was a bust for me and I picked him at a time people were thinking he was a top 5 PPR performer.... then the suspension and everything snowballed from that moment. I don't think I have a player as a keeper on my team honestly.

I like the making keepers optional rule. We use it in one of my other leagues and it works well.
