Does anyone actually tie knots on their heavier duty leaders? Or do you just stick with the crimps? I was getting some stuff ready for this weekend and realized I didn't have any crimps (haven't regularly offshore fished in a few years). So ,I started looking into knots I could tie out of curiosity. I found a few things, but I can't tie any of the them . Leader is way too stiff. I can spit out uni to uni knots like nothing from braid to 30lb leader, but it turns into a rats nest with the bigger stuff.

Are you asking for leader to main line knots or leader to terminal knots?

Leader to mainline, go with an alberto knot if you're having difficulty cinching down the uni-uni knot.

For leader to terminal connection, a palomar or snell is the go-to.

San Diego Jam knot. It won't slip...but is it sorta bulky.

i go uni to uni on it all

line to hook, snell

This. You should be able to snell 300 lb test. Hook the hook on something, make a couple of wraps around your hand to tighten
