Wouldn't that only be true if you believed society made the correct decisions in every action?

Discarding a view or action because it is not held by the majority of society is not a decision based on whether it is correct or incorrect.

Societal acceptance =/= Justified

The opposite is true as well.

No. It means that society will fail to function if large groups of people rebel against the majority in a violent manner. There would be anarchy. Even if society decides to promote something or pass a law that is immoral to you if you don't accept it you are not working within the confines of the group in which you live. People blowing up abortion clinics would be an example of this.

What is it based on?

What does justified mean? Just because something is justified to you does not mean that it is justified to anyone else in the world. Society has laws that must be obeyed in order for the society to function. I am a hard core Libertarian and I understand this. I disagree with too many things to even mention in relation to our government but I accept them because the alternative is anarchy. The laws and rules that govern us are passed because they are what the majority wants. The only viable alternative you have is to move elsewhere but I don't know where you could go and find anything better outside of an uninhabited island and even that brings its own challenges.
