I'm just saying I don't consider them gangsters because they aren't up to the level of the mafia, Russian mafia, or anything else. I consider people like that the real "gangsters". Just a opinion of mine.

What time do the bloods get off of work?
Posted on 7/22/14 at 10:38 am to ihometiger
I bet nothing comes from this

That sounds like a fair number just as you sound like a reasonable and logical person.
Are you a cop using the words reasonable and logical?

Posted by LSURussian The cop haters on this board and the Poli Board will applaud this move.
These Bloods are not justified in their actions.
Had their motivation been different, Scruffy might look at it in another light.

I don't want the cops to die, but I do want a lot of them to lose their badge.
They do what they want, usually without consequence. Its coming to a head soon. This country is waking up to this police state.

What sort of motivation would be necessary in order for you to support them?

Not the the case in this situation.
In certain situations, retribution is an acceptable course of action, so long as you don't go too far.

Firings are not always sufficient. Incarceration should be more feared by LEOs.

That is a very vague statement. What is too far?

Much like you see here with these gang members, blood simply for the sake of blood is not a rational response. It is an emotional one.
Although, it could be stated that any act would be an emotional response, making the claims of rational actions false, unless the action can be both rational and emotional. A possibility.
Crap. Should get back to studying.
Thanks for letting Scruffy talk gibberish for a few minutes.

I contend that any action that seems logical to only a small group does not fit into the fabric of society as a whole. In order to function we all must suppress desires that we have each day in order for order and law to function. We cannot act based on only our own reason or society will fail to function. That is why it is never justified to shoot cops unless all of society decides that is what must done in order for society to continue to function.
Was that enough gibberish for you?
Posted on 7/22/14 at 11:22 am to DanTiger
Wouldn't that only be true if you believed society made the correct decisions in every action?
Discarding a view or action because it is not held by the majority of society is not a decision based on whether it is correct or incorrect.
Societal acceptance =/= Justified
The opposite is true as well.

No. It means that society will fail to function if large groups of people rebel against the majority in a violent manner. There would be anarchy. Even if society decides to promote something or pass a law that is immoral to you if you don't accept it you are not working within the confines of the group in which you live. People blowing up abortion clinics would be an example of this.

What does justified mean? Just because something is justified to you does not mean that it is justified to anyone else in the world. Society has laws that must be obeyed in order for the society to function. I am a hard core Libertarian and I understand this. I disagree with too many things to even mention in relation to our government but I accept them because the alternative is anarchy. The laws and rules that govern us are passed because they are what the majority wants. The only viable alternative you have is to move elsewhere but I don't know where you could go and find anything better outside of an uninhabited island and even that brings its own challenges.

I have been arrested as have probably half of my guy friends. I'm also educated, have a great job, and am a valuable member of society.
Those things can co-exist.
Police effort is generally misguided. I blame them and this country's legislation equally.

We celebrate people who acted like this every 4th of July......... Sometimes it is right and necessary.
ETA: BEWARE THE GROUP-THINK MENTALITY. Think for your damned self.
