I recently retired my old 870 Wingmaster and Model 12 for duck hunting. Is bismuth a safer alternative for old guns than steel?

Interested in this as well. Have an old A5 that has been demoted to squirrels and rabbits b/c not supposed to be good to shoot steel.

Mine obviously started out shooting lead, but I've been shooting steel for as far back as I can remember(given to me mid-90s). No visible damage to it, but I wouldn't know where to look anyway
