That's great advice. I took the game up at probably 23-24yrs old and the first thing I did was take lessons from a local pro. I believe it prevented me from developing any seriously bad habits and poor muscle memory.

When I finally took to the course I was shooting low 100's....102, 109, 110. Didn't take very long to break into the 90's. If I would have used Dawgsontop34's advice I believe I would've gotten better even faster.

100% this. Get some lessons and start out with a good swing instead of just aimlessly going out with bad mechanics. Then get some decent clubs that are fitted for you if you find that you like the game.
